Liptrap Loft: Country retreat near the beach

Location & Activities

Relatively unexplored nearby coastline is often compared to Tasmania.

Just over two hours south-east of Melbourne, Liptrap Loft is hidden among the lush farmland of South Gippsland between Tarwin Lower and Walkerville on the Promontory Coast.

The relatively unexplored nearby coastline is often compared to Tasmania due to its rugged charm and stunning secluded beaches.

It’s only a 30-minute drive from Liptrap Loft to Wilsons Promontory National Park.

Specific directions will be provided on confirmation of booking.

Local activities and services

It’s only a 30-minute drive from Liptrap Loft to the stunning Wilsons Promontory National Park. Make the most of it!

One of the best activities at Liptrap Loft is no activity at all. The house’s rustic architecture and idyllic natural surroundings will ease you into a slower pace of life. Kick back and smell the roses – or in this case, the eucalypts.

If you’re feeling especially comfortable in your own skin, you could even stroll around the property naked. Seriously. The place is so private that no one will be able to see you. Except, that is, for the local wildlife, such as echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and bluetongue lizards.

You’re in the wilderness here, and your new neighbours are Australia’s native animals.

In fact, if you look outside the house window, you might spot a koala. Don’t worry if you miss out on seeing a marsupial, though, because there’s always the birdlife – black cockatoos, wattle birds, galahs, willy wagtails, whip birds and white cockatoos to name just a few.

An ideal way to spend your first dusk is to relax in the hot tub with a glass of champagne and watch the swallow aerobatics show. A flock of them nest in the eaves of the Japanese bathhouse and perform aerial manoeuvres as the sun sets.

Although the area is still quite a remote part of the state, you will be surprised how much there is to experience.
